PRIVATE RESIDENCE

LOCATION: NEWTON, MA.

SCOPE: VIEWING GARDEN

This garden was designed to create an intimate space to be viewed from the interior of the house as a number of constructed views. A comfortable garden terrace space was added where there was formerly an extremely steep and uninhabitable slope. All material elements: granite, copper/water, Roxbury pudding stone, Goshen stone, cobbles, and large boulders, and moss are integrated to form a highly organized space rich with textural and sensory elements. Sounds of water, wind in the bamboo foliage, contrasting textures rough and smooth, color and muted tones, shade and light, contribute to the landscape experience.
